Student Performance: Cultural Connections Through Dance

The San Francisco Ballet Center for Dance Education (CDE) proudly presents The 2010 Performance Project, Cultural Connections Through Dance, featuring 100 students from the San Francisco Unified School District. Participating schools include Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy, New Traditions Alternative, Redding Elementary & Rosa Parks Elementary. Teaching artists from the CDE have been working with select groups of students for approximately 16 weeks on a performance composition for presentation at the Young at Art Festival. Ranging from Country Western to West African Dance; each group has worked very hard to produce a spectacular show. The Performance Project builds self-esteem in participants by providing an opportunity for personal growth and creative discovery. This program is free of charge to all students and audiences.
